I... am... going... to... die! Jack huffed and puffed and ran faster than he thought he could towards the beanstalk. The harp kept crying out. "Shut up! Shut up! If you'll play for me, you'll be happier!" The harp considered Jack's offer for a moment, then continued shouting. Jack ripped off part of his shirt and stuffed it in the harp's mouth. When he neared the beanstalk he dropped to the ground and crept through the cloud to the top of the beanstalk. Quietly he slid down the plant, knocking off stems and leaves on his way down. As he neared the ground, he called out to his mother.
"Mother!! Come look what I've brought you!" Jack pulled the rag out of the harp's mouth. It began to play an enchanting melody. Jack's mother smiled happily.
The beanstalk began to shake. "The ogre is coming!" yelled Jack.
